Carrying the historical depths of Polatlı, Gordion Tumulus H sheds light on the magnificent era of the ancient Phrygian civilization. In this settlement, remembered as the legendary capital of Midas, this tumulus—built for the final rest of queens and members of the upper class—reflects the tradition of burial concealed within the earth. Roughly 3 meters high and filled with orderly stone, this monument dates to the 8th–7th centuries BC, and the ceramic vessels, bronze objects, and bone carvings recovered from within it show the richness of Phrygian life. The archaeology museum located right beside the structures presents the beauty of the cult of Cybele and its artistic heritage. As visitors follow the trace of this civilization lost in the dusty winds of the ancient world, they can take deep history lessons by observing the variety of 2,500-year-old ceramic offerings in the museum collection.
