Standing silently in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri, the Beştepeler Tumulus IV is one of the monumental tombs of ancient civilizations. Built of earth and stone, this raised structure probably belongs to the Hittite or Roman period and is an important archaeological remnant reflecting the region's historical identity. The four tumuli in the Beştepeler area together form a system of memory stretching from the depths of time into the present, while each structure individually gives us information about settlement patterns and migration movements. Established at the intersections of ancient roads in the mountainous lands of Kayseri, these monuments stood at the center of trade and human movement. The historically remarkable aspect is the chronological archaeological landscape that these tumuli form together with the other mounds in the region, and Kayseri's position within the Hittite provincial structure. During your visit, by observing the other tumuli around it, you can discover the layered history of Kayseri from thousands of years ago; by contacting local museums, you can learn the detailed history of the structure.
