Story

Standing silently in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri, the Beştepeler Tumulus IV is one of the monumental tombs of ancient civilizations. Built of earth and stone, this raised structure probably belongs to the Hittite or Roman period and is an important archaeological remnant reflecting the region's historical identity. The four tumuli in the Beştepeler area together form a system of memory stretching from the depths of time into the present, while each structure individually gives us information about settlement patterns and migration movements. Established at the intersections of ancient roads in the mountainous lands of Kayseri, these monuments stood at the center of trade and human movement.
