Editor's Note
The Artuklu Palace was the seat of the Diyarbakır branch of the Artuqid dynasty, built within the citadel of Diyarbakır's walled city during the reign of Nasreddin Muhammed (1200-1222). Used until the 16th century, it later became buried under a mound; though partially excavated in the 1960s, most of it still lies underground.
