Pompeiopolis was a Roman city in ancient Paphlagonia, founded by Pompey. Its ruins were identified in the early 19th century with Zımbıllı Tepe, near Taşköprü in Kastamonu Province. Located in the valley of the Gökırmak River about 40 km north-east of Kastamonu, the city's borders reached the Küre mountains to the north, the Ilgaz mountains to the south, and the Halys (Kızılırmak) river to the east.
