Tyana (Tuvana) was an ancient Anatolian city-state in the Niğde region, regarded as having been founded by the early Hittites. Its center lay at the village of Aydınkent (İvriz), about 4 km south of the district, and the kingdom held sway in the area between roughly 1200 and 742 BC.
