The translucent blue waters and white travertines of Pamukkale are Turkey's most enchanting natural wonder. This panorama, formed over thousands of years by thermal waters cascading down terrace after terrace, has turned the landscape of Denizli into a work of art. The travertines are made of fine white stone built up over time by mineral-rich springs. Each pool has its own temperature, color and healing properties. The ancient city of Hierapolis was founded atop these wonders and, with its surviving period architecture, continues to bear witness to history. A fascinating fact: the travertine formations keep growing by about one centimeter every year. When you visit, walking barefoot through the thermal waters and feeling the warmth of the white travertines offers an unforgettable experience.
