Halicarnassus was an ancient Greek city in Caria in Anatolia, located on the Gulf of Gökova in what is now Bodrum, Muğla Province. The city was famous for the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the tomb of Mausolus built between 353 and 350 BC, which ranked among the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
