The Myndos Gate is a historic site to the west of central Bodrum. It formed an important point in the western walls of the ancient city of Halicarnassus, defended by two towers strengthening the walls that crossed the plain; one of the towers survives at nearly its original height. The gate takes its name from facing the ancient city of Myndos at the tip of the peninsula, and vaulted Hellenistic and Roman tombs lie nearby.
