Editor's Note
Gergis (also Gergithus, Gergitha, or Gergithes; later Kerge) was a town in ancient Troad, north of the Scamander River. According to Herodotus it was inhabited by descendants of the mythical Teucrians, and he records that the Persian army of Xerxes I passed it on the way to Abydos in 480 BCE.
