Editor's Note
The Tabakhane Mosque, whose original construction is known to date to the 15th century, was demolished and rebuilt in later centuries. Today the mosque stands within the boundaries of the Hacıbayram Neighbourhood in Ulus, on Kevgirli Street. An old Ankara photograph shows that the fountain thought to belong to the mosque stood in front of the primary school (sıbyan mektebi) adjoining the old minaret shaft on the western side of the mosque. As far as can be understood from the photograph, the fountain, built in masonry using dressed Ankara stone, was of plain design. It has a slightly projecting upper moulding.
