Editor's Note
This İshak Ağa Fountain (also known as the Palamar Fountain) stands in Istanbul's Beykoz district. It was commissioned in 1752-1753 by İshak Ağa, the chief customs officer of Istanbul. Built within the Beykoz Meadow, it was absorbed into the urban fabric as the area was developed; the shape of its original basin was altered after 1972, and it remains in use today.
