Editor's Note
Ya Vedüd Türbesi is the tomb of Sheikh Abdülvedûd, who took part in the conquest of Istanbul, located in the Eyüpsultan district. When he died in 1456 he was buried beside the dervish lodge he had founded here under his own name. The tomb was repaired by Hatice Sultan, daughter of Mehmed IV, and rebuilt in 1876 by Pertevniyal Sultan. The Şemsi Cemal Usta Fountain stands in front of it and the Ya Vedüd Mosque across the street, while the Golden Horn Bridge built in 1974 passes overhead.
