The Tuz Baba (Tuzbaba) Tomb stands on Uzunova Street in the Türkali quarter of the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. It is a square-plan structure with a low roof, containing only a wooden sarcophagus. The tomb is attributed to Tuz Baba, said to have been the salt-master of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror; a popular tradition involves leaving packets of salt on a marble ledge on the tomb's exterior, from which passers-by take a pinch of salt.
