Editor's Note
Pertek Castle is a castle in the Pertek district of Tunceli Province. Once standing on a sharp rock by the Murat River before the Keban Dam reservoir was formed, it now appears as an island surrounded by water. Containing a cistern, it is understood to have been built by the Mengücekids, who dominated the region after 1071, and it was repaired during the Ottoman period.
