Parion, near the Biga district of Çanakkale, is one of ancient Anatolia's rich trade centers. This city, where prosperity and culture flourished during the Roman period, was also known as the City of Fairies. The Roman baths visible today lay bare the architectural achievement and daily life of two thousand years ago. The stone columns, tiled floors, and remains of a sophisticated water system attest to Rome's social culture and technology. The baths were not merely a place for washing but the community's center for gathering and conversation. Parion's archaeological value lies in showing the successive presence of the Phoenician, Persian, and Roman civilizations. As part of the ancient Via Egnatia road, Parion was one of the Silk Road's critical Aegean ports and an intersection point of the East-West trade network. On your visit, it is highly recommended to see the Parion finds in the Çanakkale Museum and the stone remains at the archaeological site, and to imagine the ancient city from the hills overlooking the Aegean.
