Editor's Note
The White Bridge was a Roman arch bridge over the river Granicus in Mysia, in the north-west of modern Turkey. Presumably built in the 4th century AD, its fine construction and marble facing were praised by early European travellers, but the structure was plundered for building material during the 19th century.
