Editor's Note
Tavium (Tavia) was the principal city of the Celtic Trocmi tribe in Galatia, one of three Celtic tribes that migrated from the Danube valley into Anatolia in the 3rd century BC. Its position on major roads made it an important trade center. The site was used in turn by the Hittites, Cimmerians, Persians, Celts, Greeks, Romans and Ottomans, and in Roman times served as a key road junction and a resting place on the caravan routes.
