Editor's Note
Eflatun Pinar (the Hittite Water Monument) is a stone-built pool monument set over a spring that rises from the ground, built during the Hittite Empire inside Lake Beysehir National Park, about 85 km west of Konya. Dedicated in the Late Bronze Age to a sacred spring cult, it has been identified with the 'spring pool of Arimatta' mentioned in a treaty between the Hittite king Tudhaliya IV and King Kurunta of Tarhuntassa. In the medieval Seljuk period it was reinterpreted as a shrine to Plato.
