Set in the green canyons of Çamlıhemşin, the Gelin Tülü (Bride's Veil) Waterfall takes its name from the appearance of its falling water, which resembles a bride's white veil. Linked in Black Sea folk tradition to bridal rituals, this natural sanctuary, with the crystalline light shimmering as it descends from the high rocks, carries visitors into historical memory. It is said that for generations local people held celebrations and ceremonies around this waterfall, and that it stood at the center of social life especially in the spring months. Çamlıhemşin, the rainiest landscape of Rize, intensely brings out the waterfall's seasonal transformations thanks to its wet climate; the water reaches its most powerful state after the spring rains. Winding through the region's tea fields, this natural watercourse is one of the rare examples of Anatolia's water-culture heritage. Choose the spring and early summer months for your visit; in this place, where the sound of the water meets the surrounding forest, you can discover the true cultural side of Rize.
