Editor's Note
The Temple of Artemis (Artemision) at Ephesus was an ancient Greek temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis, located near modern Selçuk in İzmir. Its grand Hellenistic incarnation was counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Thought to have been burnt down in 356 BCE by an Ephesian named Herostratos, the temple was destroyed and rebuilt many times in antiquity, with its last version destroyed in 401 CE. Today only foundations and marble fragments of the final temple remain on the site.
