Editor's Note
Koskinia (also known as Aratepe) was a settlement in ancient Caria, inhabited in the Roman period. Strabo records it as having city status in the 1st century, and Pliny refers to it as Coscinus. Its name is thought to derive from the Greek koskinos ("sieve"), possibly because of sieve-like hollows in the local rock surface. It lies today northeast of Dalama in the Efeler district of Aydın Province and is on Turkey's register of protected archaeological sites.
