Editor's Note
Malene was a town in ancient Aeolis, in the territory of Atarneus. Historically, it is known that before 494 BC the Milesian tyrant Histiaeus was defeated here by the Persians; after a long battle, his army was scattered by a charge of the Persian cavalry.
