Editor's Note
Orestias was an ancient Greek settlement in Thrace on the bank of the Evros (Meriç) River, located at or very near present-day Edirne, around today's Turkey-Greece border. It was later refounded by the Roman emperor Hadrian under the name Adrianopolis.
