Editor's Note
Pyrrha (Ancient Greek: Πύρρα) was a small but strategically placed riverside town on the Maeander River, directly opposite Miletus, lying about 50 stadia (some 9-10 km) inland from the river's mouth. At the meeting point of the Carian and Ionian borders, in the shadow of Miletus, it served as a local hub for river transport and regional trade. Its site is tentatively located near modern Sarıkemer, in the Söke district of Aydın.
