Editor's Note
Hyssus (Ancient Greek: Ὕσσος) was a port town of ancient Pontus on the Black Sea coast, at the mouth of the Hyssus River, 180 stadia east of Trapezus (Trabzon). It appears to have been a place of some importance, being fortified and garrisoned by the 'cohors Apuleia civium Romanorum'. Its site lies near Buzluca village, in the Araklı district of Trabzon.
