Editor's Note
Coryphantis (Ancient Greek: Κορυφαντίς, also Coryphas) was one of the Mytilenaean settlements on the coast of ancient Aeolis, opposite Lesbos and north of Atarneus; Strabo mentions it and Pliny the Elder notes its oysters. Identified in surveys by Prof. Engin Beksaç between 1996 and 1998, the site has yielded mainly potsherds, with abundant Roman-period ceramics attesting long occupation. It lies among olive groves near Keremköy, in the Gömeç district of Balıkesir.
