Aspona was an ancient city and bishopric in Galatia, in central Asia Minor, corresponding to the modern settlement of Sarıhüyük about 80 km southeast of Ankara. Although there is evidence of prehistoric occupation, the city is first documented in Roman itineraries and was recognized as a city (civitas) from the 4th century; the Emperor Jovian passed through it in 363. Its bishopric is attested from the Council of Serdica in 343. Today several reused Roman and Byzantine spolia can still be found in the village of Sarıhüyük.
