Story
Semystra is an ancient settlement on the legendary lands of Eyüpsultan that has borne the footprints of human civilization for centuries. In this strategic location near the Bosphorus, the architectural ruins of the Byzantine, Ottoman, and even earlier periods lie in layers. Once an important trade center in antiquity, this place lays bare the building techniques of architects from different eras. The ceramic fragments and foundation stones uncovered in archaeological excavations convey the traces of daily life of the communities who lived here. The most striking feature of Semystra is that the traces of civilizations stacked one upon another on the same site can be seen so clearly. During your visit, taking a short tour of the nearby Eyüp Mosque and the streets of the historic neighborhood will help you better understand the historical richness of the area.
