Story
Hierion stands quietly in Beyoğlu as one of the lesser-known legacies of Istanbul's cultural wealth. The layered remains of the civilizations that lived on these lands in antiquity, built one upon another, still wait beneath the soil today. The ruins emerging from the limestone foundations point to the Roman and Byzantine periods. The column capitals and ceramic fragments on the site tell of how time, flowing like a river, transformed this place. As you wander among the building ruins, you forget where in the world you are. The scent of the sea and the silence of the old stones draw you into a dialogue nearly two thousand years old. The best time for visitors is the early hours, when the morning light paints the ancient stones gold.
