Editor's Note
Artaiouteichos was a Greek town in ancient Mysia near the coast of the Propontis. According to the historian Craterus it lay on the banks of the Rhyndacus River; the first part of its name was of Persian origin while the second meant 'wall' in Greek. The town belonged to the Delian League, appearing in the Athenian tribute records of 425/4 and 422/1 BC and paying a phoros of 1,000 drachmas. Its site lies today in the lower reaches of the Rhyndacus (Mustafakemalpaşa Çayı) river in Bursa.
