Citharizon (Citharizum) was a town and fortress in the Roman province of Armenia III, on the southern branch of the Euphrates. Built by Emperor Justinian and of great strategic importance, it was the seat of one of the five governors the emperor appointed over Roman Armenia with the title of "Dux."
