Editor's Note

Kadıkalesi is the site of Annaea (Anaia), a town of ancient Ionia, located in the Kuşadası district of Aydın Province. According to Pausanias, Anaia was fortified by the people of Samos after they were displaced by Androklos of Ephesos; after mustering forces there for ten years, they were able to cross back and reclaim Samos.
