Editor's Note
The Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum (İS.CaM) is an art project and initiative begun in 1997 by the conceptual artist Genco Gülan under the pseudonym 'Mehmet Sinan'. Prompted by the absence of any contemporary art museum in 1990s Istanbul, the artist presented the museum 'as if it existed' across various platforms to make the city reflect on the idea. The project later moved online, and the museum, which has organised a web biennial every two years since 2003, maintains a physical space in Galata.
