The Republic Museum stands in Taksim, Beyoğlu, inside the historic water reservoir adjoining the 18th-century Taksim Maksemi built under Mahmud I. Restored by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, it opened as a museum on 8 June 2024, marking the centenary of the Republic. It displays documents and images on the history of the Republic together with Atatürk's personal items, including his marshal's uniform, boots and kalpak.
