Editor's Note
The SS Bandırma is the ship that carried Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, then inspector of the Ninth Army, together with his staff from Istanbul to Samsun. It is one of the symbols of the Turkish War of Independence, which began with Atatürk's landing at Samsun on 19 May 1919.
