Editor's Note
The Van Museum, also known as the Urartu Museum, is located in the city of Van in eastern Turkey. Across 13,000 m2 it presents a large archaeological and ethnographic record of human life and cultural development around Lake Van, from eastern Anatolia's Stone Age to the present. Its main focus is the Urartian period of about 2,800-2,600 years ago, with the Hakkari kurgan stelae being of particular interest.
