The Cevdet Sunay Museum, in the village of Ataköy in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, was created by restoring the house where Cevdet Sunay, Turkey's fifth president, was born and raised. Born here in 1900, Sunay served as Chief of the General Staff and then president; his house was restored and opened as a museum in 2001. It is a typical two-storey village house with cut-stone outer walls and wooden interior partitions.
