The Galata Tower is a medieval Genoese tower in the Galata part of Istanbul's Beyoğlu district. Built as a watchtower at the highest point of the now mostly demolished Walls of Galata, it serves today as an exhibition space and museum and stands as a symbol of both Beyoğlu and Istanbul.
