Editor's Note
The Antalya Museum was one of Turkey's largest archaeological museums, holding a world-class collection of sculpture. Founded in 1922 to protect antiquities from the region, it housed close to a hundred thousand works, many from the Lycian, Pamphylian and Pisidian civilizations, and won the European Council's Special Prize in 1988. Deemed unsafe against earthquakes, the building was closed in 2025 and demolished, with its holdings moved to temporary on-site storage.
