Antakya's mosaic museum — second only to Zeugma, with the floors of Daphne's Roman villas reassembled life-size.
Editor's Note
The Hatay Archaeology Museum in Antakya is renowned for its extensive collection of Roman and Byzantine mosaics. Construction began in 1934 on the recommendation of French archaeologist Claude Prost, and the museum opened to the public in 1948. With its mosaics displayed across a vast exhibition area, it is claimed to be the largest mosaic museum in the world. The museum sustained some damage in the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.
