Cennet and Cehennem ("Heaven and Hell") are natural sinkholes in the Silifke district of Mersin, about 2 km northwest of the ancient harbour of Narlıkuyu. They formed when groundwater dissolved the limestone over many years, hollowing out the ground until the undercut ceiling collapsed.
