Editor's Note
Sestos was an ancient city in Thrace, on the European shore of the Hellespont (the Dardanelles) at the Thracian Chersonese, near Eceabat and directly opposite the ancient city of Abydos. In Greek mythology it appears in the tale of Hero and Leander as the home of Hero. The castle in the area was later captured in 1355 by the Ottomans under Süleyman Pasha, son of Orhan Gazi.
