The Battle of Myriokephalon was fought on 17 September 1176 in a mountain pass west of Konya between the Seljuk Sultan of Rum Kilij Arslan II and the Byzantine Emperor Manuel I Komnenos. The Byzantine army was ambushed and defeated, marking the final, unsuccessful Byzantine attempt to recover the interior of Anatolia from the Seljuks. The exact location of the battle remains debated.
