Editor's Note
Selge was a mountain city of ancient Pisidia, built about 1250 m above sea level on the southern slopes of the Taurus Mountains, within today's Manavgat district of Antalya. Its remains include city walls, two temples dedicated to Zeus and Artemis, an agora, a monumental fountain and a necropolis. Tied to Lydia by 547 BC, it gained independence in the Hellenistic period after offering no resistance to Alexander the Great, and flourished most under Rome; Strabo records its population reaching 20,000.
