The building is the mansion of Grand Vizier Said Pasha, constructed in 1876. In 1941, the Grand Vizier Said Pasha Mansion began serving education as the Nişantaşı Girls' Institute. In 1966 it continued operating as a Girls' Vocational High School, named after Rüştü Uzel, a former director general of the Ministry of Education's Vocational and Technical Schools. As the mansion could no longer meet growing needs, a new building was constructed in its garden in 1971, and the school moved there. The mansion was then temporarily allocated to the General Directorate of Fine Arts in 1975, and to the Middle Section of the İTÜ State Conservatory from 1982 until 1985.
