Editor's Note
The land was allocated to the Jewish community in 1582. Part of the cemetery was set aside for Karaite Jews. At the intersection of Akibet Street and Tokaç Street, a gravestone was found embedded within the wall surrounding the cemetery. On 15 July 2022, 36 gravestones were destroyed by vandals.
