Editor's Note
The Count Alleon (Alyon) Mansion, or Lion Kiosk, was built in 1895 by Count Jean Gerard Amedee Alleon. It is also known as the "Lion Kiosk" because of the lion statue at its entrance gate. The facade and the area above the door feature stone-carved ornamentation and motifs. There are striking wooden details on the upper-floor balcony and beneath the eaves. Around the mid-1800s, the French-origin Alleon family was one of the foremost dynasties among the wealthy banker families of Galata.
