Editor's Note
Of the now-vanished mansion on Kelle İbrahim Avenue—understood from its overlapping small saddle roofs and broad windows to have been the lively outbuilding for the boathouse and the oarsmen—with a wide boathouse beneath it and a timber balcony above the entrance, it can be seen that an upper projection (ayatoma) was added to its seaward façade. The mansion was registered under protection No. 25 in 1971 by the Council for Immovable Antiquities and Monuments. 3) 1) Semerdam (saddle roof): a roof in the form of a barrel vault or an inverted boat, made up of a horizontal ridge and two surfaces sloping to either side; a gable roof, a triangular roof.
