Hidden mysteriously beneath the palace of King Midas during the golden age of the Phrygian civilization, these treasure chambers are one of the most fascinating archaeological legacies of the ancient world. Corridors and spacious storage rooms carefully carved into yellow tufa stone carry the sophisticated life and commercial wealth of the era into the present. According to legend, most of the palace treasures of the famous King Midas, whose touch turned things to gold, were kept in this underground labyrinth. The Phrygian architects, skillfully working the natural rock formations, created secure and cool storage areas. Rising in the green valley of İhsaniye, this monument is a beautiful union of history and nature. We recommend bringing a light source during your visit and coming in the autumn months; during this period, the play of light and the clear air tell the thousands-of-years-old story of the stones in the most impressive way.
