Editor's Note
The Tomb of Ulu Hatun was built in AH 765 (AD 1363-64). It holds the graves of Ulu Hatun, Kiçi Hatun, and Mahmud Bey, the children of Hacı Şadgeldi Paşa, the Bey of Amasya and a statesman of the Eretna Beylik. The gravestones belonging to these graves are today displayed in the museum. The building, laid out on a rectangular plan oriented east-west, is notable for its square-plan tomb chamber. The tomb is entered through a doorway on the west facade, where two side walls projecting out from the body walls form a small iwan.
